STIL launches a week full of events to kick off Spring semester

Starting off the Spring semester, Southern Utah University’s Student Involvement and Leadership Office is welcoming freshmen and returning students with a full week of events.

To begin, on Wednesday, Jan.7, a campus-wide scavenger hunt will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This will be an opportunity for participants to learn their way around campus and connect with other students.

Later that evening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Ultimate Showdown event will fill the Sharwan Smith Student Center Ballroom with food, games and prizes. Attendees will compete in Minute-to-Win-It challenges for a chance to win back-to-school giveaways.

On Thursday, Jan. 8, school spirit will take center stage with the Women’s Basketball Tailgate from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom. The event will feature free food, lawn games, student club tables and another prizes giveaway.

The next day, The One With All the New Faces event will bring a touch of nostalgia with its Friends themed night. Wearing their favorite pajamas, students can gather in the Living Room from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m to test their knowledge with trivia questions, make friendship bracelets and enjoy coffee shop themed treats.

Following this cozy night, the M.A.S.H. Bash Dance will take place on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. The end-of-week celebration will allow students to have fun, get some free food and dance the night away.

The STIL encourages students to take advantage of these opportunities to make friends, explore campus and ease into the new semester. For more information on upcoming events, check the SUU Events Calendar.
