Overall, it’s been a strong start for Tracy Mason and the T-Birds. Mason has her squad 8-4 on the year and a perfect 5-0 at home. Despite the strong start, SUU is coming off a loss to Loyola Marymount University.

The Southern Utah offense is spearheaded by sophomore Sierra Chambers and juniors Ava Uhrich and Brooklyn Fely. Chambers, a guard from Danville, California, has made a huge leap from her freshman year. She leads the team averaging 15.4 points per game and 46 total assists.

Fely and Uhrich have been dominant down low and make a dynamic frontcourt. Both players have recorded four double-doubles. Uhrich is coming off two of her best games of the season and is averaging 24.5 points per game while shooting 67.8% from the field.

Defensively, Kortney Doman has been a Swiss Army knife for SUU. Doman leads the team with 19 steals and is second on the team with 10 blocks as a guard.

Utah Tech

After a strong start to the season, Utah Tech has faltered over the last four games. UTU started the season 4-2 but is 1-3 since.

Leading the way for the Trailblazers has been redshirt senior Kaylee Borden. The guard from Anadarko, Oklahoma leads the team averaging 16.1 points per game. In their five wins, Borden is averaging 19.6 points a game compared to only 12.6 points a game in losses.

On the other side of things, Utah Tech has four different players with 10 or more steals. Seniors Maddie Warren and Chardonnay Hartley lead the team with 16 steals each.

Southern Utah is 13-7 all-time against Utah Tech. They’ve won seven of the teams’ last nine matchups since 1980.
