The Southern Utah University farm is offering an introduction to horsemanship to anyone who is interested, no matter a student’s major. The course entails riding and handling horses, grooming them and learning about all the basics of horse care.
The course is offered at different times, including 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on most days of the week. Only 1.5 hours are required per week, as the class is only one credit. Registration for this class is open from Oct. 28 to Jan. 13, 2026, leaving students plenty of time to fit it into their schedules.
This is a great opportunity for students to expand their horizons and learn a new skill.. Horses are provided, but boarding is available for those who own horses.
The SUU Valley Farm is located ten minutes east of the university at 318 S. Westview Drive, Cedar City, Utah and personal transportation is required.
