The annual Apple Festival took place on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the New Harmony, Utah town park.
The lawn of the town park, where the vendors are usually displayed, became wet and muddy due to the rain over the weekend. Instead, the festival lined the streets outside of the park, and the event continued despite the conflicting weather.
Only a 20 minute drive from Cedar City and a 30 minute drive from St. George, vendors and attendees came from all around Southern Utah to celebrate this year’s apple harvest.
The festival featured a variety of vendors selling homemade pastries, bread, jerky and more. Local artisans displayed their handmade jewelry and other artwork. Besides the vendor show, the festival offered hamburger meals and, of course, boxes of apples from the local New Harmony orchards.
For the 27th year in a row, the Apple Festival raised money for the New Harmony Fire Department. The department is made up entirely of volunteers, and these fundraisers allow them to have the equipment they need throughout the year.
“The Apple Festival is created to fund and support their Volunteer Fire Department, who obviously could use support as much as ever,” said Kacie Carballo. “Let’s show up, Southern Utah!”
Those who could not attend the Apple Festival can still donate, volunteer and support the New Harmony Fire Department through their website. Attendees can look forward to future festivals every October.
