Miles Killebrew to be 2025 keynote commencement speaker

Southern Utah University announced this morning, that alumnus and current NFL star Miles Killebrew will be the keynote speaker for the 2025 Commencement Ceremony.

Killebrew will not only deliver the keynote address during the ceremony, but will receive an Honorary Doctorate in Public Service from the university. SUU administration hope his journey from SUU student-athlete to the National Football League will inspire the current graduating class.

“Miles embodies the spirit of SUU, demonstrating exceptional dedication and leadership in all his endeavors,” said President Mindy Benson. “His experiences and insights, from his time as a T-Bird to his achievements in the NFL and his impactful community work, will offer invaluable guidance and encouragement to our graduating students. We are thrilled to welcome back one of our most accomplished alumni to share his inspiring journey with our graduates and all in attendance.”

As a part of the 2016 graduating class, Killebrew received a bachelor’s degree in engineering technology and was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2016. He is currently #28 on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Killebrew’s accomplishments include being named to the 2023 Associated Press First Team All-Pro and the 2023 Pro Football Writers of America All-NFL team. During his time as a T-Bird, Killebrew gained over 100 tackles and earned All-Big Sky Recognition through his collegiate years. He has remained a committed team player and is determined to give back through his work.

Not only has Killebrew remained active as an athlete, he strives to give back through youth initiatives and leave a lasting legacy for years to come. As a Steelers team leader, he oversees the allotment of over $500,000 in funds from players annually.
