After finishing undefeated in conference play, the Southern Utah University women’s gymnastics team will head to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship on Saturday, Mar. 22, at 4 p.m. in Anchorage, Alaska.
Southern Utah will compete against the University of Alaska Anchorage, the University of California Davis, and Sacramento State University.
Southern Utah
Despite a loss in their season finale, the Flippin’ Birds dominated the 2025 regular season. Southern Utah finished 12-5 on the year and is ranked No. 23 in the nation with a national qualifying score of 196.315.
SUU, led by Niya Randolph, Brinlee Christensen, and Ellie Cacciola ranked No. 18 in the nation on the floor routine. All three gymnasts landed a 9.925 on the floor this year.
Alaska
The Seawolves have struggled as they enter the MPSF championship meet. Alaska Anchorage is 4-12 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. Alaska ranks No. 67 in the nation with an NQS of 192.435.
Montana Fairbairn has been the Seawolves’ most consistent gymnast on the season. Fairbairn, a senior from Strathmore, Alberta has a team-high 9.900 score on the floor and 9.775 on vault.
UC Davis
The Aggies are looking to continue their strong end of the season. UC Davis went 9-16 on the year but went 3-0 in their last two meets. The Aggies finished the season No. 38 in the nation with an NQS of 194.738.
One reason for the late success is gymnast Keanna Abraham. The senior from Bakersfield, California scored a 9.900 on the floor and 9.850 on the vault against San Jose State University and Eastern Michigan University in the season finale on Mar. 7.
Sacramento State
Finishing 3-2 on the season, the Hornets finished 8-9 on the year and 5-4 in the MPSF. Sacramento State finished No. 50 in the nation with an NQS of 194.356. The Hornets also posted a 195.225 in their season finale, a season-high.
Emma Morgenthaler and Sarah Lutrel have led Sacramento State in the all-around. Morgenthaler has a team-high 39.150, followed by Lutrel with 39.025.
