SUU Outdoors to Host “Pal-entine’s” Craft Night

SUU Outdoors will be hosting a fun Valentine’s celebration on Thursday, Feb. 13, at their Basecamp in the Sharwan Smith Student Center. Open to all students, this event is focused on bringing friends together to celebrate and express their gratitude for all types of love.

They will provide craft supplies for guests to make watercolor Valentine’s Day cards for their friends and loved ones at the event. There will also be music and movies to add to the holiday atmosphere and free snacks for people to enjoy.

Guests are welcome to bring a group of friends, their romantic partner, or just come solo and get to know new friends.

“We wanted to make it like Gal-entine’s, but more inclusive,” said Nicole Gramstad, SUU Outdoors Coordinator. “We wanted to have more people feel like they can come and bring any kind of person they want or come solo and meet people.”

Previously focused solely on outdoor adventures, SUU Outdoors has recently started hosting craft nights as part of their weekly LEAP events programming.

“A couple weeks ago, we had our first craft night with LEAP,” said Gramstad, “and it was probably one of our most popular events. We had over 55 people here, so it seems people really enjoy them. This craft event is intended for people to do something a little bit more relaxed than hiking or rappelling and really just use that intimate setting to get to know one another.”

The SUU Outdoors LEAP events include various daily free activities, including yoga, local hikes, slacklining, wallyball, and more.
