For nearly three years now, Tessa Cheshire has been the host of “Talk Nerdy To Me,” a SUU News podcast that discusses the world of pop culture and all of the media they love.
“Talk Nerdy to Me” has been part of SUU News podcasting long before Cheshire’s time. What was once a show focused on video games, grew into a space to talk about a wide range of media including TV shows, movies, music and gaming trends as Cheshire took the mic.
The first episode Cheshire released on Oct. 4, 2022, was a review of the Season 6 premiere of the series “9-1-1.” Alongside Shay Wilkey, who later became a co-host for a season, the two shared their insights and anecdotes, setting the tone for the podcast’s fun and conversational style.
“One of my main things that I try to do with episodes of the podcast, is having listeners feel part of the conversation that I’m having with my guests,” explained Cheshire. “I actually don’t plan it out a ton because I want it to feel really natural.”

With fun behind the scene facts and personal stories, “Talk Nerdy To Me” aims to provide listeners with a moment of enjoyment while learning about some interesting topics. A recent episode, for example, featured the Roblox game Dress to Impress.
Certain episodes stand out as personal favorites for Cheshire. The first episode they officially co-hosted with Wilkey was about the “Unpacking” game — a game that holds a special place between the two podcasters.
“I basically got paid to talk about my favorite topic with one of my favorite people for an hour every week. I could have never asked for something better than that,” said Cheshire.
At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, Cheshire was back to hosting the podcast on their own due to scheduling conflicts, though the podcast invites guests on nearly every week.
Now a senior set to graduate in Spring 2025, they plan to wrap up the podcast with their former cohost, as a way to build a full-circle moment, revisiting their first episode’s topic.
“Talk Nerdy To Me” releases new episodes every Monday, each lasting around 40 minutes to an hour. The podcast can be found on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as SUU News’ website.
