Celeste Maloy, Southern Utah University alumna, has been reelected for United States Congress after her 2023 term. This will be Maloy’s first full term served, despite her time as Utah’s 2nd District Representative last year.
Running for 2nd District representative, Maloy surpassed democratic candidate Nathaniel Woodward, after half the votes were counted. By Nov. 6, Maloy won with 59.8% of the vote.
As part of her new responsibilities, Maloy will be tasked with navigating votes relating to approving military aid, government funding and more. With that, she plans to turn her focus to many goals commonly shared by a majority of Utah’s population: securing the border, protecting religious freedom, stopping inflation and standing up for pro-life values.
After Chris Stewart’s resignation due to family issues, Maloy took over as 2nd District Representative in place of Stewart, after winning a special election against Colby Jenkins. Maloy represented western Utah and showed a commitment to solving issues.
“We have serious work to do, and I’m optimistic that we will pull together as Americans and roll up our sleeves,” shared Maloy. “I am full of love for this country and hope for our future.”
As an SUU Alumni, Maloy makes it a priority to look out for students and residents of her hometown, Cedar City. She can be seen at local events, and often speaks at Town Hall for meetings and conventions. Her upcoming event dates can be found on her U.S. Congresswomen Event Calendar.
