Southern Utah hosts Florida International in non-conference matchup

Southern Utah University’s men’s basketball team will host its second home game of the regular season against Florida International University on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. You can catch the game live in the America First Event Center or on ESPN+.

Southern Utah
Southern Utah won their previous matchup against Western New Mexico University 96-68. The pace of play was the biggest question mark after the Westminster exhibition game. They turned it around, putting together a full and complete game.

All five starters were in double digits for scoring. Jamari Sibley led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Thunderbirds. With a healthy roster, this team will be giving their all in an attempt to compete in the Western Athletic Conference.

Florida International
FIU lost its previous game against Rice University in a narrow 77-70 game. This is a fast team and they look to attack in transition. The speed of their roster is not to be overlooked. Their goal will be to punish SUU if they can’t transition to defense fast enough.

Jayden Brewer was a standout with his on-court performance, tallying 18 points; nine rebounds; four assists and three steals, essentially affecting every aspect of the game. If Southern Utah wants to win this game, they will need to slow Brewer down.

SUU is 2-0 all-time against FIU.
