Utah colleges go head-to-head in fight for Campus Cup trophy

With the upcoming presidential election, Utah colleges and universities are competing for ownership of the Campus Cup trophy in a voter registration challenge. SUU held the trophy in 2018 and hopes to regain the title.

The Campus Cup is a statewide competition between eleven universities and colleges in Utah for possession of the Campus Cup trophy and bragging rights. Among these prizes, the winning school gains the honor of a meeting with the Lieutenant Governor.

Points can be earned a number of ways: through voter registration, the expedition vote event, visiting the county clerk and through a campus partnership. SUU acquires points when students register using the link sent out by SUUSA President Colter Bennett or post with #suuvotes.

Bennett sent out an email a few weeks ago encouraging students to partake in the competition and highlighting one’s responsibility to vote.

“SUU is participating in a competition called ‘The Campus Cup!’ Currently, BYU has the trophy but as the 2018 winners, we want it back,” shared Bennett.

Each election year, these schools compete by encouraging students to register to vote and make their student voice heard. SUU’s student body is no exception as they encourage students to participate.

Registration to vote in the 2024 election closes Oct. 25. Students with questions about how to register, request an absentee ballot, or register out of state can meet with the Leavitt Center or email the school’s Civic Engagement Manager at abigailbedont@suumail.net.
