The Southern Utah University volleyball team traveled to face Seattle University on Thursday, Oct. 17. Southern Utah dropped their third straight game against Seattle U, losing 3-0. The box score doesn’t reflect the whole game as SUU kept the sets close but ultimately got swept.
Set one
The first set was back and forth and both teams were going on runs at different points in the game. SUU led 14-10 then an intense back and forth set saw the game tied at 24-24. A serve into the net by the Thunderbirds, a kill by Seattle’s Arianna Bilby, and a missed block ended in a hard-fought 26-24 win for Seattle.
Set two
Set two was more of the same back-and-forth action that the first had with both teams trading punches. The score was tied at 20-20 in the final leg of the match and it was Seattle that got the kills and forced the errors to end the set 25-20 once again finished by a kill from Bilby.
Set three
The third was close early until Seattle crafted a five-point lead and didn’t let the Thunderbirds back into the game. At one point Seattle led by nine and SUU seemed to have given everything they had in their first two sets. The game was concluded once again by a kill from Bilby who dominated all night long.
