The Southern Utah University women’s soccer team squared off against Seattle University on Thursday, Oct. 3. In a tough hard fought battle, Southern Utah found themselves earning their first conference point on the year with the 0-0 draw.
First Half
The matchup began relatively slow with no shots taken in the first six minutes. Seattle seemed to dominate time of position in the early stages having two shots on goal after 10 minutes.
In the 19th minute, Seattle took a shot from SUU’s right corner but was saved by Goalkeeper Darya Mosallaei. The half drew to a close with a score of 0-0.
Second Half
Half two began the same as half one ended, with Seattle pushing their agenda offensively and SUU’s defense refusing to give up. The Thunderbird’s first shot attempt came in minute 57 missing wide right of the goal.
Over the next 20 minutes, Seattle continued to put pressure on Southern Utah’s backline, moving the ball with ease and precision. The Redhawks had four corner kicks and a free kick in the last ten minutes of the match, yet Mosallaei prevailed keeping the score 0-0 and earning SUU their first Western Athletic Conference point on the year.
