Bargain Bash to be held by Sustainability Club

On Monday, April 15, Southern Utah University’s Sustainability Club will host its annual Bargain Bash, a massive event featuring a student-run yard sale, live entertainment from six local bands and yard games.

The bash will start at 11 a.m. on the Library Quad and run until 4 p.m. Throughout the event, students can interact with student vendors or sell their own items if they signed up.

“It’s so joyful and summery,” Sustainability Club co-President Annie Weight said. “Everyone comes out and is on the Library Quad, and there’s music, and people are laughing and talking, and they’re getting rid of old stuff and buying new stuff from each other.”

The bash has been going on for the last three years and has become highly anticipated by the student body. Last year, many people brought clothing to sell as well as personal crafts, textbooks, home decor and other odds and ends. Cedar City Bike Works also frequents the event, selling bikes and parts.

Even for those not buying, the event is still worth attending to socialize.

“You don’t have to buy anything, but it’s super fun to just see what’s on the table and listen to the music,” Weight said.

Previous bashes have always left attendees walking away happy, and this year looks to be no different. So far, 22 students have signed up to sell, so there will be plenty of items to check out.
