An Ogden man pleaded guilty last Wednesday to coercing a minor into sending him sexually explicit videos and photos through Snapchat. This man was sentenced in St. George to 10 years in federal prison and will receive a lifetime of supervised release after the end of his prison sentence.
Tyler Justin Pitt, 28, faced one federal count of coercion and enticement and receipt of child pornography each, which Pitt had pleaded guilty to in February.
From January through July 2024, Pitt exploited and groomed a child he met on Snapchat. Officers seized Pitt’s devices when a search warrant was granted on Aug. 28 of the same year. Police found 22 images of child sexual abuse material on Snapchat and multiple searches of child pornography in the cellphone’s search history.
Pitt received 30 felony charges related to enticement, exploitation and dealing harmful materials to a minor. Pitt was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
“In this case, a child will have to carry the lasting impact of Mr. Pitt’s actions,” said Special Agent Robert Bohls of the Salt Lake City FBI in a news release. “The FBI and our partners will use every available resource to protect children and pursue those who try to exploit them.”
