Orchestra of Southern Utah to open its 2026-2027 season with “Magic in Motion”

The Orchestra of Southern Utah will open its 2026-2027 season with “Magic in Motion,” on Thursday, Oct. 1, at Southern Utah University’s Dolores Eccles Music Center. Two performances are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 8 p.m in the Okerlund Concert Hall.

Music Director and Conductor Caylee Zwang will lead the orchestra through a program featuring Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty Suite,” Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite,” and iconic themes from “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Star Wars.”

The Orchestra of Southern Utah said its new season honors the power of music, inviting audiences to experience unforgettable stories in sound at every performance.

Julesia, a violinist and violist in her second season with the orchestra, said music has written her life. She describes music as her sanctuary.

“I felt like I could express complex emotions through my music without trying to explain them,” Julesia said.

The orchestra’s 2026-2027 season, “Stories in Sound,” will focus on how music can tell stories through cinematic music, symphonic rock, traditional works, contemporary composers and young artists.

Tickets cost $18 for adults and $13 for students and seniors. They can be purchased here.

All ages are welcome at the 6 p.m. concert. The 8 p.m. concert will be recorded, so babies and children under 6 will not be admitted.
