Southern Utah University’s 76 editions of the Thunderbird Awards are now open. The formal event recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of students, faculty, staff and community members through different award categories.
Established in 1950 with only four awards, the program has grown to include 28 award categories. These celebrate academic achievement, campus culture and community service.
Nominations are open through My SUUPortal and will remain available until Feb. 6. Anyone affiliated with SUU can submit nominations. The list of award descriptions including Outstanding Educator, Personality of the Year and Student Artist of the Year can be found on the Thunderbird Awards website.
On Friday, April 17, the winners will be celebrated at The Thunderbird Awards Ceremony in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. The annual Oscar-style awards ceremony is open to the public and will take place at 7p.m.
Semi-formal attire is encouraged.
Do not miss this opportunity to contribute to the university’s life and make a difference T-Birds!
