The tuba and euphonium studio recital took place on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
As the tuba and euphonium are newer instruments, there isn’t a lot of material written for them specifically since they’re usually considered accompanying instruments.
“I was more nervous for this recital than recitals I play on,” shared Kozlovsky. “It’s a different kind of nerves, but we had good attendance and they played great.”
Kozlovsky explained that for him, it’s more rewarding to make music rather than make grades on assignments, which is why he loves seeing the student’s work pay off.
Hannah Meeker has been playing the euphonium for seven years and performed a piano arrangement by Serge Rachmaninoff titled “Vocalise, op. 34, no 14” from “Fourteen Romances”.
Musicians were able to showcase their talents through a number of solo performances and joint pieces accompanied by piano and trombones including works from the score of “Game of Thrones.”
“I think it’s lovely to have opportunities for people from all backgrounds to come together and enjoy some good music together,” said attendee Erik Lambert. “The arts are something that uplifts life throughout all phases.”
