A dog attack in the city of Hurricane, Utah, left 5-year-old Leo Fuller with serious injuries to his face that required hours of surgery to repair. This attack took place on Oct. 25 in Washington County while the boy was allegedly trying to give the dog a hug. The mother of the young boy is now calling for the removal of the dog from the owner’s home.
“I would like to see the dog fully removed from the property,” said Brooke Chugg, the mother of Leo. She said her children play outside every day, but on the day of the attack, her neighbor came and knocked at their door.
“One of my neighbors is knocking, poundin
The boy was then rushed to the hospital, where he spent hours in surgery to structurally repair his face. The damage included a severed nerve along with puncture wounds and lacerations that required dozens of stitches.
“We got there a little after 11, and he didn’t get out of surgery until close to 7:30,” Chugg said.
Leo has now been released from the hospital but has a long and complicated road ahead of him in terms of his recovery. He will have to undergo further surgeries to fully reconstruct his face, and doctors will keep a close eye on the nerve that was damaged in the attack.
This is the second bite involving the same dog, according to Chugg, who is looking to pursue legal action against the owners.
The case is currently under investigation.
