First annual Woodshed Music Festival rocks Enoch

The first Woodshed Music Festival held on Oct. 10 and 11 was a smashing success.

The festival consisted of live music, food, drinks and vendors.

Artists from Utah and Nevada came together to bring tunes and good vibrations to Enoch. Festival goers danced and found community through sharing over 20 hours of live music and experiences, even during the rainy nights.

“Even in the harsh conditions we had, rain and stuff, everybody was just hunkering down and staying,” said venue owner and musician Brad Lark. “As soon as you’re soaked to the bone, it doesn’t matter anymore, and you’re just dancing in the rain, it was fantastic. We had people dancing to the end of the show, nobody left, and it was packed last night until the end, it was great.”

A diverse range of live music was played for festival goers with genres from alternative metal to country to rock and roll.

“I’ve got to meet a bunch of people, all different types, and we’re playing rock music and everybody’s out there dancing, kids, old folks, it’s awesome, it brings everybody together,” shared musician Josh Hicken, who played in the bands Bad Water and Fenwick Way.

He further explained that listening to and performing music cultivates inspiration in individuals and communities leading to more creation and personal expression.

Attendees danced the days away and found moments of carefree joy while at the festival.

“(Live music) takes all your problems and worries away, it takes you to a whole other place, it’s awesome,” said festival goer Kathy Gregg.

The Willow Glen Resort has been a hub for live music for the past five years and plans to continue providing that outlet and experience to the community.

“I’ve been to many festivals, you name it, I’ve been there. What I want to bring to Cedar City is not only the Woodshed Festival , but I think it can grow and become bigger than us,” Lark added. “This is our first year here with the festival, and next year it’s going to be four times as big with more players, that’s the goal.”

The Willow Glen continues to host their open mic nights, swing dance lessons and socials and live music Thursdays weekly. For more information, visit Willow Glen’s Instagram and website.
