After a week of beautiful spring weather and consistent 70-degree weather, Cedar City will have three consecutive days of snow and rain showers. Although southern Utah’s winter has been considerably dry, the beginning of spring has made up for it with snow and rain storms early in March and now April.
Three-day forecast
Starting Tuesday, Cedar City will have a slight chance of precipitation. The high for Tuesday is 45 degrees, and the low will be 27 degrees. However, this precipitation will be more scattered than the next two days.
For Wednesday, Cedar City will reach a high of 40 degrees and have a 70 percent chance of snow. This will be accompanied by five to ten miles per hour winds blowing westward. Wednesday night will get as low as 26 degrees and have a 30 percent chance of snow with the same five to ten miles per hour winds to the west.
On Thursday, there will be a mixture of rain and snow throughout the day, with a 50 percent chance of rain. The high for the day will be 41 degrees, and the low will reach 25 degrees during the night. Although the day is expected to have precipitation, it will clear up as the night goes on.
Winter weather impact
Due to the extremely dry winter months, southern Utah needs any rain or snow it can get. Most of southwest Utah still has less than 60% of the normal snowpack. It may not be fun in the spring, but every storm matters due to winter’s severe drought.
