Flippin’ Birds hosting No. 13 Stanford

Coming off a season-high performance, the Southern Utah University women’s gymnastics team is set to host the No. 13 ranked Stanford University on Friday, Feb. 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the America First Event Center.

Things are hitting right for the Flippin’ Birds as they prepare to host one of the nation’s best. SUU is 93, ranked No. 29 in the nation, and has a team average of 195.589. 

Southern Utah is coming off their match against Utah State University, where the Flippin’ Birds scored a season-high 196.475. 

For the second straight week, Southern Utah gymnasts have been awarded all three awards in the Mountain Pacific Sports Confederation. Brinlee Christensen was named MPSF Gymnast of the Week after earning all-around first place against Utah State. 

Mia Hampton was awarded Freshman of the Week after nailing a 9.875 on the floor routine and strong scores of 9.725 on vault and 9.800 on bars. 

Rylee Miller continues to dazzle on the balance beam, receiving Specialist of the Week. Miller scored a meet-best 9.875 on the beam, helping SUU record a 49.050. 

Stanford
The Cardinals have continued to dominate the 2025 season. Stanford is 6-1 on the season and is ranked No. 13 in the nation. Stanford has put up an impressive 196.690 average. 

Despite the loss, Stanford is coming off their season-high performance, scoring an impressive 197.400. 

The Cardinals completely controlled the balance beam in their last meet on Feb. 7. Stanford scored 49.675, with five girls performing a 9.900 or better. 

Senior all-around gymnast Breanna Neault has been on a tear this season. Neault is coming off her best performance of the season, where she threw down a 39.575 on the all-around, finishing second. 

Fun fact
This will be the first all-time meet between Southern Utah and Stanford.
