Election Day: Where to cast your vote

Voting for the upcoming 2024 presidential election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Cedar City residents can participate by voting for city, state and federal officials through Iron County ballots. Here are the different ways Southern Utah residents can vote, including students, faculty and staff.

Mail-in-ballots are a hassle-free way of voting, but may not always be accessible. For those who did receive a ballot in the mail, ballots can be placed into ballot drop boxes anytime until Monday, Nov. 4. In Cedar City, these drop boxes are located in the Cedar City Parking Garage and SUU’s rotunda.

Most voting is in-person, which can be done prior to Election Day. This provides accessibility through audio ballots, for voters who did not receive a mailed ballot. Cedar City’s in-person voting takes place at the Cedar City Heritage Center. Early voting is open Tuesday, Oct. 29 – Friday, Nov. 1 from 12 – 5 p.m.

Election Day is the final time for in-person voting and will take place on Nov. 5 from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. In preparation to vote, researching candidates or having knowledge on the issues is crucial. Information on these subjects can be found at vote.utah.gov.

Early and in-person voting will take place in Cedar City at the Heritage Center. Anyone in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote, but Election Day lines are expected to be long. Workers are available to accommodate needs and direct voters to either a paper or electronic ballot to fill out privately.

For voting in-person, voters should be prepared by bringing their ID and a pen with them. Those not registered before Oct. 25 will be unable to vote in this year’s election.

To get involved and have a say in the election, students are encouraged to research and vote.
