Thin Line Comedy, Southern Utah University’s improv comedy club, held their auditions for the 2024 fall semester on Sept. 12th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Theater. Within the two hours, groups of students interested in joining were given the opportunity to work with the current cast and show off their skills by completing exercises with other participants.
At Thin Line, students learn the basics of acting and improv comedy through lessons with preceding comedians. After each audition, cast members are selected to participate in multiple rehearsals throughout the school year. Members must know how to act out a scene based off of a scenario given to them by the audience with little to no preparation.
Thin Line is a great option for participating students interested in acting and comedy. The stage experience that comes with performing can significantly build a student’s confidence. Like many other clubs at SUU, Thin Line brings a great atmosphere with many friends and role models.
Isis Perez, Southern Utah University student and Thin Line Comedy cast member, explains that this club can “bring a little bit of laughter to college stress.” For students not interested in performing themselves, Thin Line Comedy’s frequent shows are a great way to take a break from a busy schedule, especially considering admission is free for students.
Thin Line’s president plans to release the 2024 cast list within the month of September. Students interested in learning more about what Thin Line has to offer can follow them on Instagram. Future audition information can be found on their social media pages as well as on the SUU Event Calendar. For a fun and free night of laughter, be on the lookout for upcoming comedy show dates.
