Women’s golf takes sixth at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational

The Southern Utah University women’s golf team placed sixth out of nine teams at the Utah Tech Trailblazer Invitational, scoring a +71 over par. 

The Thunderbirds’ spot at No. 6 is the highest finish they’ve had since the end of last September. 

Top teams
— No. 1: Utah Valley University at +39
— No. 2: California State University, Northridge at +46
— Tied No. 3: Gonzaga University at +50
— Tied No. 3: University of California, Irvine at +50

Top individuals
— Tied No. 1: Carys Baek from Gonzaga at +3
— Tied No. 1: Meghan Paracuelles from CSU Northridge at +3
— Tied No. 3: Nicole Tanoue from CSU Northridge at +6
— Tied No. 3: Tanyatorn Thalangkarn from Southern Utah at +6 

Thunderbird performances
— Second for SUU and No. 10 overall was freshman Tijana Kovacic tallying a +11.
— Junior Anais Guibal finished at No. 35 with a +26.
— Cornelia Karlsson ended tied at No. 36 at +28 over par.
— Freshman Ellie Olsen totaled a +42, good for No. 50 overall.
Reece Bandemer tied for No. 51 at a +45. 

Next up
The Thunderbirds will be back in action at the Grand Canyon University Invitational in Phoenix, Arizona. The match will start on Feb. 27.
