The event is aimed toward raising funds for refugee relief efforts with a focus on helping those located in Utah. “Kolob Canyon Review,” Southern Utah University’s annually published student-run literary journal, is preparing to host the largest launch party in the journal’s history. On April 7, Southern Utah University announced that Jeffrey R. Holland, age 82, will no longer be speaking at the commencement ceremony due to being diagnosed with COVID-19 and having recently started dialysis for a kidney condition. The National Parks Service was created in 1916, three years prior to women acquiring the right to vote. On March 16, Southern Utah University announced via Instagram that Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, will be the keynote speaker for the 2023 commencement ceremony. Reaction to the announcement has garnered both excitement and disapproval. One of the most anticipated Southern Utah University performances, the Pacific Islander Student Association showcase, will be taking the stage at the Auditorium Theatre on March 16-18 at 6 p.m.
